19 - 20 February
Coordinated and curated by the Bass Coast Adult Learning Centre and hosted by local gardeners, Bass Coast Edible Gardens is an annual, two-day festival showcasing a wide range of regional food gardens. This event is designed to give you access to experts, to provide insight and show what’s possible. Whether you are a beginner, an experienced gardener or just looking for a bit of inspiration, come along and have a chat with those who are cultivating their own edible gardens.

International Women's Day

International Women’s Day (8 March) is a day for us to join voices with people around the world and shout our message for equal rights loud and clear: “Women’s rights are human rights!”
We celebrate all women, in all their diversities. We embrace their facets and intersections of faith, race, ethnicity, gender or sexual identity, or disability. We celebrate those who came before us, those who stand beside us now, and those who will come after.

Always tip your hairstylist, that a given, but if you want to make them feel every more appreciated, be sure to acknowledge national hairstylist appreciation day. This isn’t about quirky hairstyles, it is about the behind who make us look and feel good about ourselves and is celebrated on April 30th every year. There is an element of celebrating the unique styles that come with it, but at the heart is always the person with the skills to make the latest trends come to life who matters most.

National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and will be held on 16 – 22 May 2022.

Established in 1996, National Tree Day has grown into Australia's largest community tree planting and nature care event. The program is a call to action for all Australians to get their hands dirty and give back to their community.
Each year, around 300,000 people volunteer their time to engage in environmental activities that educate Australians about the world around them. While every day can be Tree Day, we dedicate celebration of Schools Tree Day and National Tree Day to the last Friday and last Sunday in July.
It's a day to venture outdoors, get to know your community and, most importantly, have fun!

IDPwD is a United Nations observed day celebrated internationally. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions.
IDPwD is an opportunity for us to make positive changes to the lives of the 4.4 million Australians with disability.
As an individual, school, community group, business or organisation, there are many ways you can get involved and promote inclusion in your community.

Apart from mobilising thousands of volunteers every year, the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development by advocating for the recognition of volunteers and working with partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming.
